Do I need an operating licence to drive children to school?
Yes. Under the National Land Transport Act, scholar transport is regarded as public transport, so a valid scholar transport / learner conveyance operating licence is required before you carry learners for payment, regardless of vehicle size. Does my driver need a PrDP?
Yes. Any driver carrying passengers for gain on a public road must hold a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) under the National Road Traffic Act. It is also an insurance requirement: cover can be repudiated on a claim if the driver did not hold a valid PrDP at the time of the incident.
